The global economy is in a state of deep freeze with countries across the world imposing severe movement restrictions to contain the COVID-19 outbreak. With many global firms unable to conduct normal business activities, the trade ministers of the G20 held a video conference to coordinate relief measures, while President Moon Jae-in has proposed to world leaders, a waiver on entry bans for business travelers. In this broadcast, we discuss what the future holds for the global economy amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and how the business environment in South Korea has changed for global firms operating in the country. We also take a closer look at the unique case of Sweden, which appears to have taken the herd immunity approach to containing the outbreak.
