AMCHAM Announces 2024 Leadership Group, Embracing Unprecedented Diversity

The Most Diverse Group in AMCHAM's History with 11 Female Leaders

December 14, 2023 – The American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM; Chairman and CEO James Kim) has announced the results of its annual leadership election for 2024. The AMCHAM Board of Governors now includes 40 total members, including 11 female leaders and several regional managers. This is the most diverse group in the organization’s history.

James Kim continues to serve as Chairman & CEO of AMCHAM. Dong C. Ha, Chief Executive & President of Northrop Grumman Korea, has been newly elected to serve as Chairman of the Board of Governors, effective January 1,2024.

Vaughn Hall, International Vice President & General Manager of Corning Precision Materials,

Albert Kim, Managing Director of MSD Korea, Soyoun Kim, Managing Director of The Walt Disney Company Korea were newly elected to the Board of Governors.

O. H. (Oh Hyung) Kwon, Senior Vice President and President of Asia-Pacific (APAC) at Qualcomm Technologies Inc., Su-Jung Bae, Korea President & Representative Director of Amway Korea Limited, Tyler W.K. Kim, CEO of Asia Pacific at Weber Shandwick Korea, Youngje Kim, President & CEO of GE Korea, Robert Laing, Vice President of Lockheed Martin Global, Inc. – Korea, Young Rok Song, CEO of MetLife Insurance Company of Korea, Ramzi Toubassy, President & CEO of AIG Korea, Myung-Soon Yoo, CEO of Citibank Korea and Soojin Yu, Country Director of Hawaiian Airlines were re-elected and will begin new terms. Each Governor has a term limit of two three-year terms.

Chairman & CEO James Kim said, “I am very honored to have such a diverse group of global business leaders representing various industries on the AMCHAM leadership team.” He continued, “This is a proud accomplishment at AMCHAM where we can boast 11 female leaders joining the Board of Governors, a record participation.”

He added, “In 2023 we reflected upon 70 years of remarkable shared achievements of the U.S.-Korea alliance as well as AMCHAM, and I look forward to ushering in another seven decades of success with this amazing leadership group. With this impressive group of leaders, I am confident that together, we will make great strides in making Korea the best place to do business, and the regional headquarters across Asia.” He continued, “AMCHAM will continue to serve the interest of the U.S. business community and help securing more Korean investments into the United States.

AMCHAM also extends its sincere appreciation to former Chairman of the Board of Governors, Henry An, for his outstanding leadership throughout his successful two-year term.

주한미국상공회의소, 규모와 다양성 겸비한 2024년도 이사진 발표

역대 최대인 11명의 여성 리더 합류로 다양성 강화

2023년 12월 14일 - 주한미국상공회의소(암참; 회장 겸 대표이사 제임스 김)가 2024년 암참을 이끌어갈 회장단 및 이사진에 대한 연례 선거 결과를 발표했다. 2024년 이사회는 11명의 여성 리더와 다수의 아·태지역 총괄 대표가 두루 포진하고 있으며, 총 40명으로 구성되었다. 역대 최다 여성 리더의 합류로 다양성과 포용성을 겸비한 이사회를 꾸리게 된 암참은 보다 다양한 산업군을 아우르며 향후 포괄적이고 영향력 있는 활동을 이어갈 수 있기를 기대하고 있다.

제임스 김 암참 회장 겸 대표이사 체제는 변동 없이 그대로 유지된다. 신임 이사회 의장으로는 노스롭그루먼코리아 하동진 사장이 선출되었으며, 임기는 2024년 1월 1일부터 시작된다.

한편 이사진에는 반 홀 코닝 한국지역 총괄사장, 알버트 김 한국MSD 대표이사, 김소연 월트디즈니컴퍼니 코리아 대표 등이 새롭게 선임됐다.

또한, 권오형 퀄컴 본사 수석 부사장 겸 아태지역 총괄 사장, 배수정 한국암웨이 대표이사, 김원규 웨버 샌드윅 아태지역 총괄 대표, 김영제 GE코리아 사장, 로버트 랭 록히드마틴 한국지사장, 송영록 메트라이프생명보험㈜ 사장, 램지 투바시 알버트 에이아이지손해보험 주식회사 대표이사 사장, 유명순 한국씨티은행장, 유수진 하와이안항공 한국 지사장 등은 재선임돼 새 임기를 시작한다. 이사진들은 각각 3년 임기를 지내게 되며, 한 차례 연임이 가능하다.

제임스 김 암참 회장 겸 대표이사는 “다양한 산업군을 대표하는 글로벌 비즈니스 리더들로 암참 이사진을 꾸릴 수 있게 되어 매우 영광.” 이라고 말하며, “특별히 역대 최다인 11명의 여성 리더들이 암참 이사진에 합류하게 된 것은 매우 자랑스러운 성과.” 라고 밝혔다. 그는 또한, “한미동맹과 암참 창립 70주년을 기념하는 뜻깊었던 2023년 한 해도 모든 이사진의 노력과 헌신 덕분에 괄목할 만한 성과를 거두며 마무리할 수 있게 되었다.”고 기쁨과 감사를 표하며, “앞으로의 또 다른 70년도 성공이 이어지기를 기대한다.”고 말했다.

그는 이어, “앞으로도 암참은 새 이사회와 긴밀히 협력하며 비즈니스 환경을 지속적으로 개선, 한국으로의 외국인 직접 투자를 꾸준히 유치하는 등 아·태지역 비즈니스 허브로서 대한민국의 경쟁력을 극대화하기 위한 노력을 아끼지 않을 것.” 이라고 말하며, “암참은 또한 한·미 정부 및 경제계의 가교로서 양국 기업이 보다 활발한 투자를 이어갈 수 있도록 도울 것” 이라고 덧붙였다.

암참은 또한 2022년부터 지난 2년간 암참 이사회 의장직을 맡았던 헨리 안 삼일회계법인 부대표에게도 깊은 감사를 표했다.
