Pledge to work closely with the next administration and strengthen bilateral economic and trade partnership

March 10, 2022 – This morning, the American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM; Chairman and CEO James Kim) issued an official statement of congratulations for Yoon Suk Yeol, South Korea’s new president-elect.

AMCHAM Chairman & CEO James Kim remarked, “On behalf of the foreign investment community in Korea, AMCHAM warmly congratulates President-elect Yoon Suk Yeol and joins the people of South Korea in celebrating another successful presidential election.” He continued, “AMCHAM is grateful to have met with President-elect Yoon Suk Yeol at a special meeting with AMCHAM member companies last December. We discussed his vision for creating a global investment environment to enhance South Korea's competitiveness and boosting trade between the U.S. and South Korea. AMCHAM is confident that President-elect Yoon Suk Yeol recognizes the value of the U.S.-Korea alliance, and we will work closely with his administration to further strengthen the bilateral commercial and economic partnership.”

He added, “The Moon Administration has shown remarkable leadership in steering Korea through some of the most challenging times in the global business environment. I truly believe that he helped enhance the image and branding of South Korea.” He continued, “While the U.S. and Korea continue to face challenges, including the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we firmly believe that the next five years holds tremendous opportunities, especially in strategic industries such as biopharma, semiconductors, and digital technology. AMCHAM looks forward to playing a key role in building bridges between the governments and business communities of both countries to realize these opportunities.”

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the KORUS FTA, which is a significant milestone that symbolizes greater potential for U.S.-Korea relations. 2022년 03월 10일 – 주한미국상공회의소(암참; 회장 겸 대표이사 제임스 김)는 오늘 새벽 제20대 대통령에 당선이 확정된 국민의힘 윤석열 당선인에 대해 공식 축하 성명을 발표했다.
